Did you make under $51,000 during 2012? If so, you could take advantage of free federal and state income tax filing services provided by volunteers from the Lorain County Earned Income Tax Credit Coalition. The Earned Income Tax Credit is a federal tax credit for low- to moderate-income workers. This credit can be worth up to $475 for an individual and $5,891 for a worker with three or more qualifying children.
Lorain City taxes will be done on the same day. Preregistration is required. Sign-ups will be accepted starting January 21, 2013. To preregister, call the Main Library at 440-244-1192 or 1-800-322-READ, ext. 450.
