LPLS North Ridgeville Branch Library Sunday Programs Start In Mid January!

Music!Enjoy live harp music, a barbershop quartet, a steel drum band, or a lively duo performance featuring the piano and washboard.  Let a professional juggling act dazzle you with a little magic.

 

Lorain Public Library System’s (LPLS) North Ridgeville Branch Library is pleased to present a variety of entertaining and informative events as part of its Sunday Programs running January through March!

 

Come see a one-woman production of record-breaking aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart.

Hear the inspiring story of Emma Gatewood who, at the age of 67, became the first woman to ever thru-hike the entire Appalachian Trail solo.

Learn about the real life adventures of Children's Author Laura Ingalls Wilder, her family and their Little House on the Prairie.

Sunday, January 13 at 3 p.m.
At Lorain Public Library System’s North Ridgeville Branch Library
35700 Bainbridge Road, North Ridgeville.
Record-breaking aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart will be portrayed by Carol Starre-Kmiecik in a one-woman production that will bring this great personality to life by using many of her actual words. This entertaining and informative program is cosponsored by The Friends of the North Ridgeville Branch Library, Inc.

Grandma Gatewood: Ohio’s Legendary Hiker
Sunday, January 20 at 3 p.m.
At Lorain Public Library System’s North Ridgeville Branch Library
35700 Bainbridge Road, North Ridgeville.
Produced by Eden Valley Enterprises and performed by Bette Lou Higgins, this is the story of Emma Gatewood who, in 1955 at the age of 67 and after raising 11 children, became the first woman to ever thru-hike the entire Appalachian Trail solo. Before she died in 1973, she hiked the trail several times as well as completed hikes in other states.

Think you know harp music? Avon Lake harpist Cecilia Ilg McKay returns to the Library to surprise and delight her audience with popular music pieces no one would expect to hear played on a harp.

Circus Company Jugglers Of Saint Ignatius
Sunday, February 10 at 3 p.m.
At Lorain Public Library System’s North Ridgeville Branch Library
35700 Bainbridge Road, North Ridgeville.
All ages will enjoy this professionally performed juggling act by talented students from Saint Ignatius High School. The Circus Company program is mostly juggling, sprinkled with a little magic. Started in 1985, the Circus Company made it to the finals of the International Juggling Association Team Competition in 2010.

Women In History: Laura Ingalls Wilder
Sunday, February 17 at 3 p.m.

Women in History member Charlene Connors will portray Laura Ingalls Wilder, noted children's author. Hear the story of the real life adventures of the pioneering Ingalls family and their Little House on the Prairie.

Smokin Fez Monkeys Music Program
Sunday, February 24 at 3 p.m.

Armed with a batch of low tech whizbangs that can barely be classified as instruments, The Smokin Fez Monkeys are trying to put the fun back into live music. Prepare to clap your hands, stamp your feet, sing along, and have a barrel of fun as this unique group performs old favorites and originals that will become favorites.

7 Mile Isle Steel Drum Band
Sunday, March 3 at 3 p.m.

All ages will enjoy the warm sounds of Trinidad and Tobago in the midst of Ohio's wintertime as this popular steel drum band plays its unique sound of steel drums and other instruments.

The Last Days Of Pompeii – Cleveland Museum Of Art Program
Sunday, March 10 at 3 p.m.
At Lorain Public Library System’s North Ridgeville Branch Library

In conjunction with the current Cleveland Museum of Art's exhibition, The Last Days of Pompeii, a Museum staff member will present a program to lay the foundation for understanding the history of Pompeii and the artifacts on display.

Rhythm And Rhyme Barbershop Quartet

Sister Jean, The Ragtime Queen And Li’l Laundry – Piano And Washboard Program
Sunday, March 24 at 3 p.m.
At Lorain Public Library System’s North Ridgeville Branch Library
35700 Bainbridge Road, North Ridgeville.
Ragtime Queen Jean Huling will perform on the piano while her teenage grandson, Li'l Laundry, plays along on the washboard like his grandfather used to do. This lively duo will perform Ragtime music as played in its original art form to entertain all ages.
